Sports Environment Alliance reveals departure of inaugural Chief Executive Dr Sheila Nguyen
The Board of Sports Environment Alliance has announced the resignation of its Chief Executive and co-founder Dr Sheila Nguyen.
Commenting on her departure as she chooses a new focus, Dr Nguyen (pictured) advised “it is with a smile on my face that I reflect on the good work we have done. I am excited to remain on the SEABoard and continue to focus on sharing my insider knowledge for the benefit of the Board and the organisation as a whole.”
Dedicating 15 years of her life to SEA, from the initial concept and idea to the inception and to its current position where the organisation is firmly established with 60 members, along with friends and allies across the country and around the world, Dr Nguyen’s vision, determination, and leadership have helped to bring the inextricable connection between sport and climate to the surface and attention of the sports industry.
With the SEA Board noting Dr Nguyen’s departure with “disappointment and sadness”, SEA Chair, Margot Foster expressed her thanks on behalf of the Board to Dr Nguyen for her significant and innovative contributions to the leadership of the sport and planet movement designed, and essential, to protect the places where we play, noting that Dr Nguyen remains a director.
SEA will be managed by interim Chief Executive Jack Peterson, SEA’s Governance, Compliance, and Legal Manager while the search for a permanent replacement to lead SEA’s next phase has begun.
For enquiries about the vacancy, please contact SEA Director Sandra Loader on 0413 452 484.
