Sports Environment Alliance welcomes Belgravia Leisure into membership
The Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) has advised that the Belgravia Health and Leisure Group Pty Ltd has joined “the #SEAFamily”.
With its core areas of business and facilities stewardship including health clubs, wellness and spa, accommodation, caravan and campsites, golf, aquatic and sporting venues in locations across Australia and New Zealand, SEA advise that the Belgravia Group business “fits perfectly within the SEA fold”.
Explaining that environmental sustainability is a high priority for the company, and looking forward to drawing on SEA’s expertise and network in that area, Belgravia Leisure Chief Executive, Nick Cox stated “sport and recreation activities are important for our community’s health and fitness, so providing these services in the most sustainable and efficient way possible is key.
“As an organisation, we have an obligation to ensure we minimise our impact on the environment to provide a safer, greener world for future generations.”
Welcoming Belgravia Leisure, SEA Chief Executive, Dr Sheila Nguyen advised that the #SEAFamily looks forward to collaborating with an organisation that prioritises sport as well as the planet and has a deep connection to the community via more than 40 local government and state government partners.
Dr Nguyen noted “the aquatics, recreation and leisure industry has so much opportunity to be a community leader in planetary health efforts and we look forward to Belgravia Leisure joining the SEA family efforts to protect our places of play for generations to come.”
Belgravia Leisure has developed a five-year sustainability plan with four key pillars to ensure its success.
Through the use of greener technologies, behavioural changes, financial and commercial improvements and consumption management, the organisation is successfully working towards the environmental targets it has set.
Cox added “our most recent achievements in the sustainability space include: a reduction in our CO2 emissions from corporate travel, a reduction in paper use; the creation of a Green Team with representatives across the entire organisation to share new sustainability initiatives; and as of July 2019, Belgravia Leisure-managed sites have not used disposable cutlery, disposable plastic bags or plastic straws.”
SEA was created to protect and enhance the natural environment of Australasia by promoting sustainability, sustainable development, regeneration and use of resources.
SEA has also recently welcomed Dick Johnson Racing and Western United Football Club into its membership.
