Narrogin gets funding for environmental leisure centre upgrades
The Town of Narrogin has received $560,702 from the Western Australian Government's Royalties for Regions Country Local Government Fund (CLGF) to upgrade its Regional Leisure Centre.
Planned improvements include installing a solar water heating system for change room showers; installing a solar power generator; replacement of the indoor heated swimming pool liner; and internal and external painting.
The works will also improve accessibility to the Centre's reception area and improve security through an upgraded alarm system and the installation of CCTV. In addition, the Centre's netball court will also be resurfaced.
Western Australian Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said high quality recreational and sporting facilities were fundamental to retaining people in country towns and building regional communities.
Minister Grylls explained "the improvements will help reduce the ongoing operational cost of the centre which will directly benefit the centre's users and the ratepayers of Narrogin.
"The savings made on electricity and gas following the installation of solar power and heating, will allow the centre to plan for other activities and maintenance."
