Mountain bike trails upgraded in Margaret River and Perth Hills

Mountain bike trails upgraded in Margaret River and Perth Hills
February 3, 2021

As part of the Western Australian Government's $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan, upgrades at two popular mountain bike trail networks at The Pines in Margaret River and Goat Farm in Perth Hills have been unveiled.

Five new trails have been constructed at The Pines, totalling 3.4 kilometres with an additional network of trails due to be completed by June 2021. This final completion will comprise 20 trails totalling 15 kilometres.

At the Goat Farm in the Perth Hills, three new trails totalling 4.1 kilometres have been developed at various difficultly levels to cater to all riders.

Novices looking to start a new hobby can attempt the beginner trails, while more experienced riders can tackle the advanced tracks.

A further 2.2 kilometres of trails will be completed at Goat Farm by February 2021.

WA Environment Minister Stephen Dawson noted "Trail riding is one of the world's fasting growing sports, and we expect these new trails will attract both tourists and locals to these iconic locations.

"It's fantastic to see these trails are now open and ready for use so they can provide more ways for visitors to get into our national parks and connect with nature.

"Keeping people on track also means they are less likely to put our precious biodiversity at risk."
