Ballinger Sports Fields complete major LED lighting upgrade
The Sunshine Coast Council has unveiled a major lighting upgrade at the Ballinger Sports Fields which will brighten next season’s games and training sessions for the Buderim Wanderers Football Club.
Sunshine Coast Councillor Christian Dickson said the upgrade would make a big difference to everyone who uses the fields, advising "this is a fantastic project and one that I am excited to see finished.
“We now have a total of 24 LED light fittings to light up games over two fields.
“I’m pleased we were able to work with the Wanderers to get this lighting installed and take these facilities to another level.”
Buderim Wanderers Football Club President Ian Marks said the new lighting had created new opportunities for the club’s players, adding "the lights are brilliant, and council has done a great job.
“Next season we can play night time football, which we couldn’t previously.
“There is now more field space available for training after dark and that really makes it a lot easier for the club.”
The council upgrade, which also included wiring, new timber poles and new switchboards, was completed last month. The $165,000 lighting upgrade was funded through Councillor Dickson’s divisional funding.
